“Protected” means the size of the files you currently back up, with identical data counted once. Older versions and the copies on your partners don't count against it. Payments, invoices and sales tax are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record.

Restore always works
With or without a license, valid or expired: restore, verification, disaster recovery and re-copying data to partners are never restricted.
Hosting is always free
Storing your partners' backups never needs a license, so your partners are never let down by your billing.
Protected stays protected
Go over your limit and you get 14 days' grace. After that, files that were already protected keep being backed up, changes included. Only new files wait.
Nothing is ever deleted
Licensing never deletes a single byte. An expired license simply returns you to the free tier.
Works offline
Licenses are signed certificates checked on your computer. A brief check-in now and then is all it needs, and it never sends anything about your files.
Warnings in good time
You're told at 80% of your capacity and well before a license ends, never surprised afterwards.

Tango figure: the disk space you give your partners in return (your data × copies, bought once) plus the license. Restores are free. The cloud figure covers storage only; many providers also charge for downloads when you restore. Change any assumption to match your situation.
Pricing questions
Why is there no storage fee?
Because we don't store anything. Your backups live on your partners' disks, and theirs on yours. You pay once for a disk, and it serves you for years.
Do my partners need a license too?
Only for their own backups, if those exceed the free tier. Hosting other people's backups is always free.
What if I move to a new computer?
If you recover with your 24-word phrase, the new install has the same identity and keeps its license. A brand-new install counts as another computer, and you can deactivate the old one from the license portal at any time.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
Checkout, invoices and tax are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. You can cancel at any time. Your license stays valid until the end of the period you've paid for, and then you return to the free tier without losing anything.
